Google ने AI race में socks खींच लिए हैं। Gemini 3 की successful release के बाद Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis ने बताया कि वे Google CEO Sundar Pichai के साथ daily talks करते हैं, क्योंकि tech giant एक startup की तरह around the clock काम कर रहा है ताकि rivals से ahead रहे।
2025 में Google के लिए AI मामले में rollercoaster रहा। OpenAI जैसे competitors से पीछे हो गया था, लेकिन new Gemini models से वापसी कर ली। Hassabis ने CNBC’s The Tech Download को बताया कि ये comeback ‘startup mindset’ से संभव हुआ।
Sundar Pichai के साथ daily discussions
Hassabis ने कहा, “We pretty much talk every day about strategic things and where should the technology go, and what does the wider Google need.” इस close collaboration से DeepMind Google का “engine room” बन गया है—“All the AI technologies is done by this group… and then it’s diffused across all of these incredible products right across Google.”
Google ने DeepMind को 2014 में ~£400 m (तब लगभग ₹4,000 cr) में acquire किया था; 2023 में Google Brain team को भी DeepMind में merge कर दिया।
Google फिर से agile
2017 में Google के researchers ने Transformers architecture develop किया—जो आज Gemini और ChatGPT जैसे LLMs को power देता है—लेकिन OpenAI पहले market में chatbot ले आया। Hassabis मानते हैं Google “a little bit slow to commercialise and scale it” था।
“Last two-three years हमें वापस अपनी startup/entrepreneurial roots पर आना पड़ा—be scrappier, be faster, ship things really quickly और rapid progress करो,” उन्होंने कहा। Competition OpenAI, Amazon, Perplexity, Anthropic से “ferocious competitive environment” बना हुआ है; कई veterans का मानना है ये “the most intense environment they’ve ever seen in tech.”
10-घंटे की मीटिंग्स ‘survive’ करना पड़ता है
Startup जैसी culture ने efficiency बढ़ाई, लेकिन कुछ के लिए daily long meetings भी हैं। Gemini के product lead Dmitry Lyalin ने X पर लिखा, “I’m surviving 6-10 hours of meetings a day so that we can coordinate and deliver new @geminicli features such as… oh wait, I can’t say yet.”
